TikToker has attracted the attention of thousands of people after revealing how to clean the hidden filter in a charcoal microwave oven-this is a part that many people don't know.

The American lady with the account "@mamasknowsbest" shared a video that is now viral, showing where the filter of her microwave oven is and how to clean it.

Although the filter on her device is at the top, the location changes depending on the model and is outlined in the instruction manual.

She said that kitchen utensils should be cleaned every six months, but many people don't know that some microwave ovens have built-in filters that need to be cleaned.

This lady owns an overclocked charcoal microwave oven, which is designed with filters to reduce odors, but Australian desktop microwave ovens and other microwave ovens may not have this feature.

Before inspecting the microwave oven for cleaning, be sure to refer to the instruction manual and avoid trying to open unauthorized areas of the device, as voltage may still be present even if the device is unplugged.

The American woman running the account "@mamasknowsbest" shared a video that is now viral, demonstrating where to find the filter and how to clean it

The woman wrote in the video: "This is your reminder to replace the charcoal filter in the microwave oven."

"You should change the filter every six months. So while I wait for my new one to arrive, I will clean this up.

Unlike countertop microwave ovens, charcoal microwave ovens are built into the cabinet above the oven, and the filter is located on the top of the device.

In order to clean it, the lady only needs to open the microwave door, remove the dirty filter, and immerse it in soapy water in the sink.

She scrubbed the top of the microwave oven itself and the plastic filter cover with a wet sponge and soap.

Then rinse the filter under running water, then rinse with a plastic cover, and then put both back in the microwave.

This short video has been viewed more than 2.8 million times, which shocked many people.

A netizen wrote in a comment: "If you don't know that the microwave oven has a filter, please raise your hand."

Another added: "I'm pretty sure my apartment manager has never changed these. I dare not look at it."

Another person asked: "Well, quick question, do all microwave ovens have this?"

But another user said: "Only the microwave oven on the wall, the countertop microwave oven does not have a filter."

Some microwave oven designs have no exposed filter, but other microwave oven designs have a "deodorize" button for self-cleaning equipment (pictured)

Some microwave oven designs do not have an exposed filter that can be removed and cleaned, but other microwave oven designs have a "deodorize" button for automatic cleaning of appliances.

There are also many devices on the market specifically designed to clean microwave ovens-including Angry Mama microwave oven cleaners.

Or, others choose to clean the equipment by pouring half a cup of water into a bowl with lemon slices and setting the timer to two minutes.
